The Giants fell to 2-8 after Sunday’s ugly 20-17 loss to the Carolina Panthers, and many fans are ready for an overhaul.
Former Giants defensive lineman Chris Canty is among those who believe the franchise is in desperate need of regime change. Speaking on the “Unsportsmanlike” podcast, he explained why it’s time for a clean slate.
“The Giants should fire everybody effective immediately,” Canty said. “I know what Giants owner John Mara said two weeks ago about not making any changes in the season or after the season, but Sunday’s loss in Munich puts Big Blue on a five-game skid.
“It was the first time in 25 games where the Giants were actually favored by Vegas and they lost.
“There’s no sense in going through a rebuild with the head coach and a general manager on the hot seat,” Canty said. “It’s been three years for (Brian) Daboll and (Joe) Schoen and frankly, that’s long enough.”
Schoen was asked on Tuesday if he expected to return for Year 4 in his role, even if the Giants don’t turn their season around. His answer? “Yes.”
